I didn’t have time to dodge as he thrust something toward my chest. Pain ripped through me, then my body collapsed. I tried to cry out, to fight back, but all I could do was lay there on the sand, still slightly warm from the daytime.
He grinned, moonlight glinting in his dark eyes and shining off of sharp fangs. “Gottcha.”
