Triska is still rocking the house.

945683_10151475175097411_76375781_nOr something like that πŸ™‚ It’s been a while since I’ve had a Triska update so I figured now was a good time.

A couple of weeks ago she went back into the trailer for the first time since she’d arrived. She had no problems hopping back into the trailer and since my friend was following me, I know for sure she trailered just fine. This was part of an epic plot to surprise said friend with her husband’s new found desire to ride with her. It was very touching. I gave him lessons for a while without her knowing and then we got her to the barn to find him already on her horse. We’d arranged to borrow a horse from the barn and I went riding with them. Triska was very good on the ride even when the other two horses acted up a little. At one point she was basically sleeping while we waited for the other horses to settle. And they’re supposed to be the trained horses. *giggles* The ride went well for everyone and my friend even got to ride Triska a little and loved her.992915_10151475175797411_1191803928_n She hesitated to get back into the trailer that night, but that’s because it was a black hole. She walked right in as soon as we shined some headlights to light her way.993305_10151475175587411_1277476332_n

The weekend after that I went out to the grasslands with another friend and her horse and Triska was again very good. My friend drove, which is a novelty for me. Usually I’m the only one with a truck and trailer. She has a two horse straight load… I suspect Triska’s never been in one because, while she got in it with a little coaxing… she wouldn’t get back out. We had to take the divider out and let her turn to walk out, but we’ll get some good practice in so that next time she’ll be able to back in and out without problems.1005996_10151484451552411_124047931_n1002705_10151484451507411_489332101_n(and don’t tell anyone but I was an idiot and forgot my saddle pad. Fortunatelly my buddy had a towel I could use. *hangs head* I’m usually the one trailering…and it threw off my groove…that’s my excuse.)
We’ve been doing some riding at my landlord’s property too. Corn fields are scary, but she’s getting better about that. Cows are scary but I walked her past them and she did quite well. Overall we had a good ride today. She was being stubborn about going through a dry wash but after walking her through it on foot a few times I was able to ride her up and down the wash and into and out of it with no problems. We’re going camping soonish too… I’ll let you know how that goes.
