To change it up a little, this one is from Into the West #5 Sagebrush Song. I don’t know when it will be published, but the whole series is complete. This is from the rough draft.
Tina jumped back, trying to get out of the way. She didn’t want to leave Rowe completely without backup though so as she slipped past the other football player she stuck out her foot. It hurt when his leg thudded against hers, but the face plant he did was more than worth the bruise she’d have later.
Tina scooted away, getting out of range and hoped Rowe was as good of a fighter as she thought he was.
The guy on the ground cursed and scrambled to his feet. He glared at Tina but turned his attention back to Rowe just as the cowboy landed a solid punch in Tracy’s boyfriend’s face. The other guy jumped forward as Tracy’s boyfriend fell to the ground. Rowe ducked out of his way and punched the guy in the gut. He doubled over, gasping. Rowe stepped back next to Tina, still grinning.
