Tuesday Teaser

This is also from Summer Break Blues. Probably going to post teasers from it for a while. I’m currently just over 35K. The goal for this novel is 60K. Over halfway there!!! I’m on track to finish by the end of September, which is my goal. Obviously, as always, teasers are in rough draft form. If you’d like to post a teaser of your own, please do, up to ten lines. I took a deep breath and squeezed both of their hands to let them know I was ready. Steph squeezed back then started out onto the slick black rock. We all jumped when the lighthouse sounded its klaxon wail. Alexander and Steph both had a death grip on my hand and their hearts were racing so fast I could feel their pulses through my hands as I held theirs.
“One more time,” Steph said, though her voice was shaky with fear.
“Onward.”
She squeezed my hand in appreciation of the joke and started walking again. Water swirled around our ankles, soaking our shoes and pants and tugging on our feet, as if the ocean was trying to claim us and drag us out to sea.
