Tina goes Westward, Yo!

Ok, official announcement.
I don’t have my contract yet, but they’ve already sent my story off to the editor and I worked out the title of my first story with my publisher.  They also told me to talk about it lol.

I posted this link a while back (pretty sure I did) http://echelonpress.com/ This is the article by my publisher that explains the project I’m a part of if you are interested in reading it.

In short we are putting out a series of low reading level high impact stories targeted to reluctant teen/young readers.  My stories are targeted towards the 13 to 18 range of horse crazy girls

Tina is a typical 16 year old Jersey girl.  She likes her nails manicured, her clothing new, and bugs are something she should only see in a museum.  She also loves horses, and is willing to get dirty, but only if she’s riding.

Her dad is a geologist and accepts a transfer out to Golton, Arizona, a virtual ghost town outside of Cameron.  He takes his family with him.  Tina is devastated that she has to leave her friends, the horse she rides, and everything she knows behind.  But she finds adventure in Arizona.  A local cattle ranch allows her to trade barn work for riding time.  When she tags along on a “real” cattle drive, she gets a little more adventure than she planned.  A calf leaves the herd and she follows, and has to survive a flash flood, bandits and worst of all a really cute cowboy about her age.

The first story, Westward, Yo! will be available from Echelon Press on March 8th in ebook and is the first in a series of 6, to be released monthly.  I’ll be sure to post all about it.

I think is a wonderful idea and anything to get kids reading, regardless of age, is excellent. I’m looking forward to reading it. 🙂
